Chinese Mandarin Teacher Recruitment

Durham Chinese School is one of the most successful supplementary schools in the UK with outstanding successes in educating children in Chinese language and culture and achieving outstanding results in nationally recognised examinations. We provide both language classes and interest clubs every Sunday during the term time, with classroom located in Elvet Hill House, Durham University.

We are now recruiting one enthusiastic Mandarin Chinese teacher for teaching a class with young pupils aged between five and six.

It is essential that a successful candidate should have:

  • Fluency in Standard Mandarin Chinese (Putonghua)
  • Experience of teaching Mandarin Chinese
  • Enthusiasm and creativity in working with school-age children
  • Skills in motivating children to learn and maintaining classroom
  • Educated to a degree level
  • Adaptability and flexibility
  • Methodical and with team working skills
  • Potential for long term appointment, i.e., more than two years
  • It is desirable that a candidate has:

  • Ability to teach other culture related lessons, e.g. musical instruments, dance, Chinese art, and Kongfu.
  • The closing date for application is at midnight on 16th Febuary 2020.
